Funded by The Arts Council, The Emerging Artists Programme is a supportive, year-round development programme designed for artists at the early stages of their creative careers, or those looking to build confidence, develop their practice, and connect with a wider artistic community.
Meeting monthly, the programme provides a welcoming space for artists to share work, exchange ideas, receive constructive feedback, and explore opportunities for professional and creative growth. Sessions focus on developing artistic practice, setting goals, building networks, and navigating the opportunities and challenges of working as a contemporary artist.
The programme includes a range of practical and professional development workshops throughout the year. Topics include artwork photography, pricing and valuing work, exhibiting opportunities, branding and identity, marketing, portfolio development, and other key areas that help artists build sustainable and successful creative practices.
The programme is led by Rachael Chambers of Ferrers Gallery, who brings 25 years of experience mentoring, exhibiting, and supporting artists. Drawing on her extensive knowledge of the arts sector, Rachael offers practical guidance, encouragement, and insight to help participants develop their confidence and progress their creative ambitions.
In addition to the monthly group sessions, participants can access free one-to-one personal development sessions with Rachael. These individual sessions provide tailored support, advice, and guidance specific to each artist’s practice and ambitions. The sessions are available throughout the year and can be booked directly with Rachael. As with the programme itself, these sessions are offered free of charge but must be booked in advance.
As an annual rolling programme, artists can join at any point throughout the year, making it flexible and accessible for those looking to engage with ongoing support and professional development. Whether you are a recent graduate, returning to your practice, or taking the next step in your artistic journey, the programme offers valuable opportunities to learn, connect, and grow.
