LOROS Stomp

About this event:

From 14 July to 21 September 2025, Leicester was inspired by a mammoth art trail parading through its streets, parks and open spaces.

Forty beautifully designed elephant sculptures stomped round Leicester in recognition of LOROS’ 40th anniversary, taking trail-goers on a journey past the city’s well-known icons and hidden gems.

Here at Charnwood Arts, we were incredibly lucky to receive our own elephant to decorate and help raise funds for LOROS.

Colorful elephant statue decorated with words like 'Innovative,' 'Cultural,' 'Sound,' and 'Inspire,' standing on green grass in a park with trees and a building in the background created as part of the LOROS Stomp Around 2025 Project.

Results of the event:

Artie, as we affectionately named him, represented what we’re all about at Charnwood Arts: promoting creativity, inclusion and community engagement through the arts. Our artists created a piece that reflects this mission—each icon represented something we offer the community, from our Drawing Room and Creative Craft workshops to Breathe Create projects and our partnership work—bringing our elephant’s creativity to life.

At the trail’s charity auction, the sale of the large elephants raised a staggering £286,000 for LOROS.

Thank you to everyone who supported this fundraiser and found Artie along the trail — your kindness helped raise vital funds for LOROS.
