Explorative Monoprint
Week 2 of 4
This course explores creating monochrome and coloured prints using the playful and experimental technique of monoprinting, guided by simple line-drawing methods. Inspired by other artists, you’ll experiment with techniques such as direct drawing on plates using mark-making tools and natural materials, creating paper stencils, and working with subtractive and additive methods.
You’ll also explore layering, texture, overprinting and mono-etching, while learning how to ink a plate, apply your design and print by hand. Throughout the course, Mandeep will encourage experimentation, creative risk-taking and group discussion.
You’ll leave with a portfolio of unique monoprints and the skills to continue printing at home without a press.
