Garden Sketch Book - Week 3/4
Come together over this four week course and allow yourself to be led by the Rectory Gardens through a series of sketches and print studies that capture the spirit of the place. This course has process-led creativity over outcome at its heart as a way of inviting curiosity to guide us towards noticing our natural environment and our place in it.
We’ll begin by making simple sketchbooks in different formats to encourage different approaches to creative thinking and recording through gentle and close observation under Mandeep’s guidance. We’ll gather useful information, develop our own mark-making vocabulary, and create our own individual symbols of emotional connection using a variety of materials to capture the gardens, plants and colours.
During the course, we'll deep-dive into extracting visual elements you have gathered, working them into block shapes and layering with marks and colours. Informed by these studies, we’ll work them into prints using simple yet effective printmaking techniques such as linocut and mono-etching, and pastels.
By the end of the course you will leave with a mini library of filled sketchbooks, and a series of sketches and print studies.
