Found Sound

As part of our relationship with the Charnwood Forest Geopark, we are offering you the opportunity to get to know Charnwood Forest better in accessing and connecting with the natural beauty of Charnwood Forest through the medium of sound and music.

Found Sounds aims to promote wellbeing through participation and the positive health benefits associated with being in nature and listening to the sounds of the forest. By engaging with the forest and collecting sounds you will be involved in creating unique musical compositions made available worldwide, celebrating Charnwood Forest, Britain’s unexpected upland.

In this session you will get the chance to experiment with the captured audio from the forest, exploring ways to edit and compose. Various computer programs will be used to edit and manipulate the audio and highlight aspects of the recordings and enhance. Sessions will be led by Tom, Karl and Marshall who will assist participants where needed and demonstrate various methods of editing the audio files beginning to create a ‘bucket of sounds’ to be used in compositions

Found Sounds opens up a vast realm of possibilities for creativity, allowing our commissioned composers to explore the sonic qualities of the Charnwood Forest and incorporate these elements into their work in unique and innovative ways sharing it with the rest of the world. Do you want to be part of it or have your own studio you would like to use to create and share ideas from the bucket of sounds?
