Jessica Ralph
Video/conceptual artist
Jessica’s Emerging Artist project explores memories of food and how the act of eating can return us to a past time, evoking feelings of nostalgia. Jessica work focusses on her own personal, past experience of baking rock cakes with her Grandma to create pieces of moving image, writing and spoken word. As part of her project , Jessica also created and led a workshop based on her practice in which local participants were able to attend and talk about their own narratives on childhood foods.
“Through being a part of this programme, I have benefited as an artist by learning different ideas and skills through the weekly meetings and the opportunity of putting on a workshop - a new and insightful experience.”
