A word from our CEO Shirley Novak following the latest news about Covid-19 and easing of restrictions
Thank you to everyone who continues to support Charnwood Arts. As local legal requirements change following government advice about Covid-19 we still need to think about how to protect people from the virus. Arts Council England (ACE) are continuing to give us advice and we understand that people remain concerned – particularly those with specific needs including those of being clinically extremely vulnerable (CEV). We will carry on assessing all our creative offers to ensure that people feel as safe as possible – irrespective of their backgrounds, abilities or vulnerabilities. Please do contact us if you have any questions, concerns or feedback that you want us to know before or after any event we offer.
enabling participation in the arts for everyone regardless of ability
We are an artist-led, independent community arts and media organisation based in the Borough of Charnwood in the East Midlands of Britain.
Funded mainly by the Arts Council and Charnwood Borough Council, our work encompasses most art forms including combined arts work and a wide range of approaches from long term community arts projects, performances, outdoor events and publications, video productions, school and community residencies, exhibitions and ongoing participatory arts groups.
Charnwood Arts has been around since 1976, and for most of those years was led by Kevin Ryan who sadly passed away earlier this year.
With a new CEO and different focus due to the landscape we now find ourselves in, Charnwood Arts wants to embrace community, and provide access to relevant and meaningful art and provide opportunities to enable people of all ages with an interest, a range of skills and abilities, experience and expectations, to access the arts across all art forms, and at all levels in a variety of roles.
