Embrace Arts

Information

On the edge of the University of Leicester campus, we're easy to get to and there's plenty of free evening car parking.

As the University of Leicester's Arts Centre, Embrace Arts at the RA Centre offers opportunities to everyone to participate without barriers in ways that challenge and inspire.

Our welcoming 180-seater performance area, art studios, extensive exhibition gallery and bright foyer space enable people to engage with the arts as audiences, performers and learners. We also manage the University's support for students through the music scholarship scheme and student music groups, as well as working with a range of local amateur performers.

We are one of the few arts venues that can boast a fully-accessible facility and we provide a focal point for cultural life on campus and in the wider community.

Long active in arts and disability, Lord Attenborough was fundamental to the creation of the RA Centre and continues to be an immense supporter, closely involved with its activities. The University was delighted when he graciously agreed to the RA Centre being named after him in recognition of his support and his family links to the University (his father was principal of its college precursor from 1932 to 1951). The RA Centre was opened on 27 May 1997 by Diana, Princess of Wales.
