Green Place, Sileby

The Green Place is a little oasis and peaceful garden surroundings is based in the centre of Sileby, within walking distance of local transport.

We offer Green inspiration and actions for the public, demonstrating and encouraging individuals on how to live economically through our enticing fair-trade gift shop, environmental information centre and cafe - here you can enjoy a hot or cold drink and a bite to eat from our newly expanded menu by the warmth of the fire, out in the gardens during the sunny summer days, or in our recently installed Mongolian-style yurt in the garden.

In the gardens surrounding the building you can walk and relax amongst the wildlife gardens, which includes two ponds, a bog garden, bird feeding stations, the woodland stage and organic vegetable growing. During the summer we also sell a range of plants, recycled water barrels and other garden products.

Throughout the year we run a number of events and activities including a Plant Swap, Summer Music Days and Children's Wizard Day. We also run craft workshops such as willow basketry, and using recycled materials such as records and tyres to make useful and decorative items.

The yurt is available for hire for parties, meetings and workshops, and we can provide wholesome food and a range of craft activities if required.

There are regular events and workshops and we offer recycling workshops to schools and festivals.
