Rong Tao Residency - UK2K12

Information

Choreographer and Dancer Rong Tao from Yuwu Dance in the Chinese city of Chongqing is based at Charnwood Arts from February 8th until March 8th 2011. Working with students from Rawlins Community College, Hind Leys Specialist Arts College and Loughborough College, Rong Tao will share his idiosyncratic movement style and creativity through a series of residencies and workshops. He will also run a week long residency for more experienced dancers from across the region at Loughborough College from Monday 21st - Friday 25th February.

Rong Tao is no stranger to the East Midlands as he has worked on developing new dance pieces with the Lakeside Arts Centre in Nottingham for the last three years as part of their extensive Chinese New Year celebrations. Rong Tao is a prime mover of contemporary approaches to dance in Chongqing and is a highly respected teacher beyond the development of his own work.

As part of our continuing commitment to bringing together cultures and communities Charnwood Arts is proud to welcome him to Charnwood.
