Next Level Cafe - First Summer Project

Information

What a huge success! Young people have flocked from all over Loughborough and its neighboring villages to meet together in a battle for the Champion of Unreal Tournament.

We have a winner. Congratulations to Matthew Moore who faced virtual battle several times to work his way to the finals on the 28th August and then go on to win. Matthew Moore walked away with £100 in his pocket after winning the individuals’ tournament.

Next Level also held a team tournament, ‘Capture the Flag’, on the Unreal tournament game and the winners were, The Demon Cleaners consisting of Sam Crisp, Rick Annable and Thom McNeil. Congratulations to them on receiving their prize money of £100.

Mini tournaments each day allowed the young
people to indulge in creative and imaginative thoughts in designing a new character for Unreal Tournament. Some young enthusiasts also took responsibility for organising smaller computer game tournaments using other computer games.

As well as the computer game tournament, some very interesting workshops were also held at Next Level. These included a very popular Liquid Light Photography project, the famous Games Workshop and an interesting Make Some Noise music workshop which lasted a week.

Attendance at Next Level was astonishing. Many new people were enticed to come in each week right up until the grand final and as well as the large group of regulars, Next Level received 100 young people interested in what it had to offer them. There was a wide age range of young people ranging from 11-20 years old.

Next Level was a thoroughly frequented and enjoyed venue. Thank you to everyone who made it possible! A special thanks to the Curzon Cinema for making the building available.
