The annual ‘Heart of 3 Cities' Festival has been running throughout the Borough of Charnwood since 2006.
The original aims of the Festival were:
- To have a month-long multi-artform festival across the Borough encompassing visual arts, literature, music and the performing arts.
- To engage the diverse communities of Charnwood and the 3 surrounding cities in Leicestershire’s biggest participatory festival of the Arts
- It will engage artists, companies and groups from the three cities in a focal point of Charnwood and create opportunities for local artists elsewhere.
- To put Charnwood on the map culturally in terms of its location, cultural life and visitor potential.
The Festival provides a platform for a wide range of art forms and acts as a focal point for a number of activities and events that take place in Charnwood throughout the year, such as Streets Alive!, Picnic in the Park, Glastonbudget, Lions Carnival and the Canal Festival to name but a few.
The Festival also promotes the Borough of Charnwood and all its other attractions and places of interest such as the Great Central Railway, Bradgate Park, the Charnwood Museum and so on.
