Charnwood Music Concert Bands, a group of three wind bands from a wide age range, together with participants ranging from pre-teens to retired people, came together to work on a wind band piece called 'African Road'. Richard and Julie Latham led African percussion workshops for the group, progressing from basic to more complex rhythms and culminating in a performance at Garendon School. A great deal of enthusiasm was shown by all concerned and the group have been asked to perform at other venues, including Streets Alive on May 28th. The project was funded by AstraZeneca R&D Charnwood through their joint arts funding scheme with Charnwood Arts.

Future possibilities for CMCB include the setting up of their own drumming group and further cross-cultural projects and concerts.
