The group was started last year as a result of a request for knitting sessions. Why is it called Big? Because the group formed at the time of the 'Knit A Sock For The Sockman' project. The Sockman is a big lad which called for big socks. It is also Big because it welcomes people from across Charnwood and indeed the world. We have members who have arrived in Charnwood from places like Libya and Lebanon. We also have participants from several social care groups. Our youngest members are the children that accompany their mothers and our oldest members are in their 70's. We now meet at The United Reformed Church on Frederick Street Loughborough on a Thursday from 12.30 - 2.30pm. All are welcome and sessions are free although we do welcome any contributions towards the cost of the room hire.
