Big Knitting Group

Information

The group was started as a result of a request for knitting sessions. Why is it called Big? Because the group formed at the time of the 'Knit A Sock For The Sockman' project. The Sockman is a big lad which called for big socks. It is also Big because it welcomes people from across Charnwood and indeed the world.

We have members who have arrived in Charnwood from places like Libya and Lebanon. We also have participants from several social care groups. Our youngest members are the children that accompany their mothers and our oldest members are in their 80s. We now meet at The United Reformed Church on Frederick Street, Loughborough on a Thursday from 12.30pm - 2.30pm. All are welcome and sessions are free although we do welcome any contributions towards the cost of the room hire.

Hello Jemma.
You dont know me but I hope you will bear with me while reading this.
I will be 80yrs old in May so I dont do a lot of knitting now although I still buy the knitting magazines mostly to keep up with todays knitting trends and to read any interesting websites on the net.
Yes I do have a computer and I also have two WW2 websites that have been well read by over 13,000 people from worldwide. I tell you this just to let you know how I got your e-mail address.
Now to tell you exactly why I have contacted you. As I stated earlier I still like to buy any knitting magazines and very often they have free gifts with them that are of NO use to me. I wondered if they would be of any use to you and the knitting project that you run.
There are all sorts of things in the bag that I have been putting the stuff in which includes knitting needles of all sizes. Plus many things that will be useful to fully fledged knitters such as bag handles. There will also be oddments of yarn and some of the knittiing books. I will copy this and send it to you by e-mail just in case you dont call in this site.
Please let me know if they will be of any use to you.
My address and phone number will be on the e-mail that I am sending to you.
Best Wishes.
Maywalk.
