Anstey Study Support Scheme

Information

A library based youth project to produce a website by young people from Anstey.

The Anstey Study Support Scheme project, funded by the DfEE, was a partnership project between Longslade Community College, Leicestershire Libraries and Information Service, Charnwood Arts and Anstey Martin High School.

The project, which ran at Anstey Library for the best part of a year set out to explore working relationships between library staff, youth/arts workers and young people. It was led by Charnwood Arts youth arts worker, Chris Wright.

Young people on the project have produced their own 'Gateway' website to Anstey featuring pictures of the village, their own creative photography, poetry and details about the history of their own environment.

Following on from this project, as part of our area based work, Charnwood Arts produced a number of short films made by young people talking about their issues and problems in the village. Members of the original project were also supported in attending the consultations being held to decide future directions for development in Anstey.
