Shepshed Singers

Information

We are a mixed four part choir of some 42 voices based in Shepshed in Leicestershire. Founded in 1977, the choir has gained a reputation for performing neglected and unfamiliar music as well as better known and popular pieces, both sacred and secular.

We rehearse weekly throughout the year and aim to achieve a high standard in both performance and presentation. Most of our music is a capella although we usually perform a larger work with orchestra each year. Past performances have included Handel's Joshua, Mendelssohn's Lauda Sion, Hovahness' Magnificat, Durulfé's Requiem, Michna's St Wenceslas Mass and Valls' Missa Scala Aretina. We have toured five times to Europe, most recently to Amsterdam. As a choir we participate in music festivals. In addition to our own concerts we are available for weddings, Christmas events and other social functions.

Our Musical Director is Andrew Goff, who has conducted the Singers since 1985.
