Votes for Women: Centenary Exhibition from Charnwood Arts

Mon 5th February, 2018 by Charnwood Arts

Charnwood Arts is delighted to be a partner in a a new exhibition to celebrate the centenary of women gaining the vote in Britain.

The exhibition, entitled "Votes for Women" celebrates the Centenary of the Royal Assent to the Representation of the People Act, 1918, that gave (some) women the vote.

It tells the exciting story of the local suffragette movement, including a map showing notable events and people plus the figure of a local suffragette dressed in the costume she is said to have been wearing when she was arrested in London.

This exhibition is split between Charnwood Museum and Loughborough Library, both located on Granby Street, Loughborough.

The exhibition is free to enter and is open during library opening hours.
