Ian McMillan - Talking Myself Home

Thu 25th October, 2012 - 7:30pm to 9pm @ Martin Hall Bistro, Loughborough University

Martin Hall, Loughborough University
Tickets: £10 / £8 Conc / £5 Students

From his school days at Low Valley Junior School and Wath Grammar School to his time as the drummer with Oscar the Frog, Barnsley’s first folk-rock band, and beyond, Ian McMillan, the Bard of Barnsley, takes us on a poetic journey through his life, a life lived with words at its core. Expect much rip-roaring hilarity, heaps of nostalgia and a dash of Barnsley pathos in this brilliant autobiography in verse.

Ian McMillan is a well known and much loved writer and performer regularly appearing on radio shows including Pick of the Week and Quote Unquote along with his role as presenter of The Verb on BBC Radio 3 and BBC’s Coast. He is currently poet-in-residence for the English National Opera, The Academy of Urbanism and Barnsley FC.

‘[Ian McMillan’s] show … [is] a dazzling combination of finely-honed poems and stand up repartee. When the audience weren’t savouring his metaphors … , they were shrieking with laughter.’ Apples’n’Snakes

Suitable for adults and ages 13+

7:30pm - 9pm
